Needs Assessment, Planning and Program Design 

Evidence has shown that a significant portion of failed outcomes stem from lack of understanding on the root causes of problems they seek to address in all their complexity.  We employ various toolkits, frameworks and assessments to help our clients unpack problems and assess solutions.  This includes problem diagnostic tools, evaluability assessments, scenario planning, cost benefit analysis. etc.  We have helped organizations do this for individual projects as well as USAID missions internalize these approaches in CDCS planning and beyond.  


Monitoring and Evaluation

Emergence has provided design and implementation services for program and policy monitoring to include Third Party Monitoring.  Our portfolio of evolution services includes Case Studies, Outcome Harvesting, RCT/PSM Evaluations, Base/Mid/End-line performance and process evaluations in addition to an emphasis on the integration of emerging technologies and ICT into MEL.   

Training and Capacity Development 

We have customizable training curriculums on Monitoring & Evaluation, Program Design, Planning, Needs Assessment as well as specialized trainings on Systems Thinking (Outcome Mapping/Harvesting, etc.), Blockchain, Adaptive Management and Evaluation Design.  We have delivered these trainings to private, non-profit and government partners to include National Defense University, USAID country missions and Universities.  


Learning Agendas

Our clients want to learn what is and is not working, why, and what to do about it.  To help them we have helped NGO's and government partners develop learning agendas that outline what their priorities are, how to overcome barriers, how to inform decision making in a quality/timely manner and action plans to make it all work.  We emphasis the cultivation of ownership, participatory processes and open culture within Learning Organizations and work with our clients to build the soft skills needed to learn.
